Short Biography

Prof. Fernando Remião, Ph.D.

Associate Professor at FFUP and Senior Researcher at UCIBIO/REQUIMTE

Fernando Manuel Gomes Remião is the current Pro-Rector for Educational Innovation and Sport, University of Porto (U.Porto) and Head of the U.Porto Unit for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning, since July 2014.

Fernando Remião is an Associate Professor with aggregation, of the Faculty of Pharmacy of University of Porto (FFUP) and Member of the Scientific Council FFUP. He graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences by FFUP in 1993. He obtained his PhD in Toxicology in 2002 from FFUP, after a brief period of research in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Southern California (USA). In July 2015, he obtained his “Aggregation Title” in Toxicology.

Fernando Remião is also a Senior Researcher in the Toxicology Group of the Applied Molecular Biosciences (UCIBIO, REQUIMTE) Research Unit. He is Associated Editor of the Scientific Journal Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, being author/co-author of more than 100 papers published in international journals. He (co)supervised, with success, 6 PhD students and 7 MsC students and led two projects funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT/Portugal). He is currently the main Professor of the "Mechanistic Toxicology" Course Unit in the "Master Course of Pharmaceutical Sciences" and of other related subjects in other Masters Courses.  Concerning Learning and Teaching development, he is member, by the U.Porto, of several Erasmus+ projects as TOX-OER, EFFECT, E-VAL and PrinTEL and integrated the Scientific Committees of several pedagogical conferences/courses.
