Natércia Teixeira is a Full Professor at FFUP, Sub-Director of FFUP and leader of the Drug Target and Biomarkers Research Group at UCIBIO-REQUMTE. She obtained her degree in Pharmacy at the University of Porto and has a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow). Her main interests are: i) the biological evaluation of new potential aromatase inhibitors (AI) for breast cancer treatment and the elucidaton of the mechanisms associated to AI-acquired resistance, namely involvement of autophagy and androgen receptor; ii) the understanding of the mechanisms that underpin the dynamic uterine-embryo interactions during successful and complicated pregnancy, as well as the role of cannabinoids in fetoplacental development.
